Use the editor sidebar: focus keyword, synonyms, checks and previews
A tour of the OnlyAI SEO sidebar in the block editor and the panels in the Post tab: the focus keyword, synonyms, prominent words, the checks, the Google preview, and the AI Search tab.

What you need
- The plugin installed
- The block editor (the classic editor has a simpler box with the same fields)
Open any post. Click the OnlyAI SEO icon in the top-right of the editor (or the OnlyAI SEO panel in the settings sidebar). Everything below updates as you type, including text you have not saved.
The three tabs
- Analysis: the focus keyword, the score and the checks, grouped by topic.
- Preview: how the page will look in Google.
- AI Search: whether llms.txt and the Markdown copy are on, and tips for being quoted by AI assistants.
Set the focus keyword
The focus keyword is the phrase you want this page to rank for. Type it in the field at the top of Analysis. Pick a phrase a person would type into Google, like "mechanical keyboard for students", not a single broad word.
- It understands word forms. "Mechanical keyboard" is found in "mechanical keyboards", and "automate email" in "automating your email".
- Synonyms: the Synonyms box takes up to five related phrases, separated by commas. They count the same way as the keyword, so you do not have to repeat one phrase over and over.
- More keywords: up to four more phrases the page should rank for (type one and press Enter). Each gets its own small checklist. They are guidance: the page score keeps following the main keyword.
- Prominent words: the words and word pairs you use most, with counts, and whether your keyword is among them. If your keyword is missing from that list, the text is probably about something else.
- Same keyword on two posts? The editor tells you and links to the other post, because two pages aimed at one phrase can compete.
Read the checks
Checks are green (done), amber (could be better) or red (missing). Press a check to see why it matters and what to do. A red or amber badge on the Analysis tab shows how many need attention. Do the red ones first.
Typical checks: keyword in the title, in the first paragraph and in a subheading; a meta description of the right length (about 70 to 160 characters); an image with alt text; internal and outside links; a sensible length; short paragraphs.
The Preview tab
See your SEO title, address and description as Google shows them. Edit the SEO title and meta description here. If you leave them empty, the plugin uses your template (titles and templates), then the post title and excerpt.
Panels in the Post tab
Open the normal Post tab in the editor sidebar and scroll down. OnlyAI SEO adds four panels:
- Search & social (OnlyAI SEO): noindex, nofollow, no cached copy, no text snippet, the canonical URL, a share title, description and image, cornerstone content and the main category.
- Rich result (OnlyAI SEO): say the page is a Product, Recipe, Event and so on. Guide.
- Link suggestions (OnlyAI SEO): your other posts your text already talks about, with an Add link button. Guide.
- Previews & data (OnlyAI SEO): how the page looks when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn and X, the structured data it prints, a link to Google's Rich Results Test, and a box for your own JSON-LD.
Classic editor
In the classic editor the same fields (SEO title, description, focus keyword, synonyms) are in an OnlyAI SEO box under the text. The live score and 1-click SEO are for the block editor.
