Site setup
Decide who can do what: roles and rights
Give editors, authors and other roles exactly the OnlyAI SEO rights they need: manage everything, redirects, the Inbox, advanced SEO fields and AI help.
Time
5 minutes
What you need
- An administrator login (only administrators can change rights)
Open OnlyAI SEO, Settings, Who can do what. Each role (Administrator, Editor, Author, Contributor, Subscriber) can be given any of five rights.
| Right | Lets the role |
|---|---|
| Manage everything | Change settings, import, connect cloud and Google, switch agents on or off. Includes all the rest. |
| Redirects and 404s | Add, edit and delete redirects; read the 404 monitor. |
| Agent Inbox | Run the agents and accept or dismiss their proposals (each still needs the right to edit the post). |
| Advanced SEO fields | Noindex, nofollow, canonical, rich results and custom JSON-LD on a post. |
| AI help | Use AI in the editor and on Content Ideas. Every press uses one of the site's cloud AI requests. |
The defaults
- Administrators always have everything, so nobody can be locked out.
- Editors get AI help, the Inbox and the advanced fields.
- Authors get none: they see the basic title, description and keyword fields and the score, and no AI buttons.
Change them
- Tick the boxes for each role.
- Press Save.
Each person sees only the sections they may open: an editor given just the redirects right sees a single Redirects page under the OnlyAI SEO menu.
Good to know
- Only an administrator can change who has what. Someone allowed to manage OnlyAI SEO cannot hand out rights.
- AI help is checked on the server as well as in the buttons, so a role without it cannot spend your cloud requests by any route.
- Advanced fields are locked in the editor for people without that right, and the server refuses changes from other routes too (REST API, Quick Edit, Bulk Edit).
- The .htaccess editor is for administrators only (super admins on a network), whatever rights are handed out.
- On uninstall, the rights are removed from every role.
