Evergreen Renewer: keep old guides fresh, safely
How the Renewer picks posts, what a renewal changes (at most about 100 words), how to review and publish, the optional automatic mode on paid plans, and how to undo.

15 minutes to set up
What you need
- The plugin installed
- OnlyAI Cloud connected (a renewal is one AI request)
- Optional: a Pro or Agency plan, for scheduled renewals
The Renewer finds evergreen posts (top 10 lists, best-of roundups, how-tos, guides) that are due for a fresh update and keeps news and time-bound posts out. A renewal is a small refresh written with exactly one AI request: a better opening, a short key-takeaways list, a sharper SEO title and description, at most 100 words in all.
Step 1: see what it would pick (free)
- Open OnlyAI SEO, Evergreen Renewer.
- Under 1. What would it pick?, press Check my posts now. It reads your posts only: nothing is changed and no AI request is used.
- Not sure why a post is missing? Use Why is a post not on the list? Tell me.
Step 2: adjust the settings
Under 3. Settings:
- Renew a post every 3, 6 or 12 months, counted from the last update (you can set a different interval on a single post).
- At most 1 to 5 posts a day.
- How evergreen a post must be (minimum score out of 100; default 55). Higher means only the most clearly evergreen posts.
- Content to renew: posts, pages, only these categories, never these categories (categories named News, Breaking, Press, Live and similar are recognised automatically).
- Give people time: skip a post someone edited in the last N days.
- Dates: automatic (a renewed post gets a new publish date when your permalinks have no date in them) or always change only the modified date. Addresses never change.
- Tell: the post author and everyone with the Inbox, everyone with the Inbox, or nobody.
Step 3: renew a post
- Press Renew now next to a post (or on a card in your Inbox).
- The renewal waits on the Renewals list for you to review. Open it and read each change.
- Press Publish when you are happy. Renew now always waits for a person.
Optional: scheduled renewals (Pro and Agency)
On the Pro and Agency plans you can let the Renewer write renewals by itself. Under Scheduled renewals:
- Choose Publish it by itself, at a natural time or Keep it for a person to review and publish.
- Automatic updates only touch posts that are already published, and only small edits that passed the safety checks (same links, images and headings). They go live between the hours you set (your site time), at a random minute, never in a burst.
- Set Undo for how many days (7 by default), and a monthly cap (0 means no cap).
- Choose one daily summary email instead of one per update.
On the Free plan you renew a post by pressing Renew now. This is the only feature that can change a published post without a click, it is off until you switch it on, and every one can be undone.
Undo and exclusions
- Undo restores the previous version for the number of days you set. It is refused if the post was edited since, so your own edits are never lost.
- On any post, Never renew this post keeps it out for good.
- Dated posts (match reports, results) are never picked: the Renewer uses the same evergreen test as the Refresher.
- Pages built with a page builder are skipped.
